Quality polarized clip-ons
This Brand needed OEM polarized lenses for its new clip-ons sunglasses range, but they had to be every bit as gorgeous as its fashion frames.
The challenge
With around two-thirds of adults needing sight correction, clip-ons are big business. Many people who wear optical frames like the convenience of clip-ons, because they instantly convert normal glasses into sunglasses. Because clip-ons fit over normal glasses the Brand wanted an optically correct lens that was very thin and very light. And because clip-ons get handled a lot, the lens had to be strong and scratch resistant. What’s more, it had to be possible to shape the lens so the clip-ons would match exactly with today’s optical frame styles.
The solution
The Brand selected Polaroid as its OEM partner and we provide:
- Polarized PTX4000 lenses that are just 0.8mm thick making them feather-light for comfort and streamlined for an elegant look
- With a scratch resistant coating and built in shock absorbency – enough to withstand the impact of a steel ball dropped at 100 mph and abrasion tests
- Lens blanks in an array of colours and curvatures, which are all easy to shape without the quality and wastage issues associated with other suppliers
- Full UV400 protection and glare-blocking capability for squint-free, healthy vision
- Compliance with global standards - European EN1836, Chinese GB10810, American ANSI Z80.3 and Australian AS/NZS1067 opening up international markets
- Exceptional visual acuity, meeting the stringent Europe Class 1 Optics Standard.
